Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026. Written in plain language, because privacy policies should be readable by the people they protect.

The short version

Gurmukhi Go works without an account. If you never sign in, your progress lives only on your own device. If you do sign in, we store your email and your lesson progress so it syncs across your devices. We never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.

What we collect

Without an account: nothing leaves your device. Lesson progress, streaks, and settings are stored in your browser's local storage.
With an account (optional): your email address (for sign-in via Google or a magic link), your display name if you set one, and your lesson progress, streaks, and review words — so they sync across phone and computer.
Newsletter (optional): if you subscribe to the weekly Sikh digest, we store your email and a confirmation record. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Referrals (optional): if you share an invite link, we store your invite code and how many friends joined through it.
Shop waitlist (optional): if you join a T-shirt waitlist, we store your email and which design you picked.

Advertising

The site is free and supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense on long-form article pages (never inside lessons). Google may use cookies to show relevant ads and measure them. You can control ad personalisation in your Google Ads Settings, or block cookies entirely in your browser — the lessons work either way.

Affiliate links

Some pages (like Resources) link to books and products on Amazon. If you buy through those links, Amazon pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon's own privacy policy applies once you leave our site.

What we never do

Sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
Send you marketing email you didn't sign up for.
Track you across other websites.
Require an account to learn.

Your choices

Delete your account data: use the delete option on your profile page, or email us and we'll remove everything.
Unsubscribe from the newsletter: every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Clear local progress: clearing your browser's site data removes everything stored on that device.

Children

Gurmukhi Go is designed to be safe for children to use with a parent. Children can use every lesson without an account, and we deliberately collect no personal information from anonymous users.
